As you head away from the Algarve coast, you will find yourself in the beautiful Algarve countryside, and the unspoilt villages of Alte Salir, Querença and Benafim.

Alte is a pretty town, with a busy day to day life. There are supermarkets, restaurants (including the famous donkey restaurant) a municipal market and all facilites you need for your day to day life.

Santa Margarida is a small village to the North of Alte, where you will find many traditional houses within the village, with beautiful country views as a backdrop.

Salir is an inland village, about 30 minutes drive from the Algarve coast. Salir is well known for agricultural activities, and this includes cork, carobs, figs, almonds, medronho and hunting.

The village of Salir is surprisingly well equipped, with shops, a petrol station, many restaurants and cafés, library, police station and even a castle!

Properties in and around Salir are popular as they are often located in rural areas with plenty of green space and within natural, quiet areas. Salir property is cheaper than property in coastal area, and is often seen as a more affordable area to buy property in the Algarve.

Querença is a popular village, with a tradtional church square in the centre of Querença. Querença is known for the production of sausages and medronho (a clear spirit), and even has it´s own sausage festival every year. Benafim is one of the smallest villages but does have its own petrol station and a very impressive tractor dealership. There are houses in and around the centre of Benafim and as you move away from the village you will find unspoilt open countryside surrounding you.
